Frequently asked questions.

What is EMS training?

Electro Muscle Stimulation training, or EMS training, is scientifically proven to maximise your workout by activating all of the major muscle groups and helping you reach your fitness goals quicker. 20 minutes of EMS training is the same as 90 minutes sweating it out in a traditional gym.

EMS training uses tiny electrical impulses that mimic signals from your central nervous system. This allows the training to focus on stimulating very specific muscle groups. The EMS equipment we use is Miha Bodytec which is FDA-approved. The workout doesn’t place any extra pressure on your joints or ligaments making it perfect for any age or fitness level. It can also be safely used while you rehabilitate from an injury. EMS training is a highly effective and safe method to improve physical performance.

How does EMS training compare to traditional strength training methods?

Our brains are very good at interpreting a stimulus and activating the muscles necessary to perform a movement. In conventional training, if we lift lighter weights, we get a certain amount of muscle fibres recruited; if we lift something heavier, we get more muscle fibres recruited. We can activate 90% of the muscle fibres with EMS without impacting the joints.

How long does an EMS training session typically last?

EMS sessions run for 20 mins.

Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your appointment start time. If you are late we may not be able to train you.

Can EMS training be combined with other forms of exercise for maximum results?

EMS can be combined with other forms of exercise. If you are completing other high-intensity training forms, doing a single 20min EMS session per week is recommended, as it is considered high-intensity exercise. EMS can be used more frequently with those who complete activities such as yoga and pilates.

What should I wear if I am in EMS Lab or Pilates Lab?

EMS LAB - EMS Training requires specialised EMS undergarments which you will need to bring along for your session. The EMS undergarments are provided complimentary when you book your introductory EMS session.

PILATES LAB - For your safety and hygiene, we are a socks-on studio. Please bring your Pilates socks. Pilates socks are also available for purchase in the studio.

Is Pilates safe during pregnancy? How soon after I've given birth can I start Pilates?

Yes, Pilates is safe during pregnancy. Pilates can safely help you build strength and stability throughout your pregnancy. Our instructors are trained in Pre and Postnatal Pilates and can provide appropriate modifications as needed. We encourage our clients to complete an Initial Consultation and then attend the small group Studio or Equipment Pilates during their pregnancy. Within these classes your individual personalised program can be changed daily based on how your body is feeling and changing.

We encourage clients to receive clearance from their health practitioner or obstetrician before commencing exercise again. This usually happens at six weeks post birth.
